Alverda S. Dugger, 89 of Scottdale, passed away, Monday, August 3, 2015 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born October 7, 1925 in Everson a daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Musgrove) Thomas.
Alverda was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of Pennsville Baptist Church where she belonged to the 50 Plus Group and the Philathia Class. She was also a member of the Scottdale and Everson Senior Citizen organizations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Philip Dugger, Sr., Sept. 2, 2003, four brothers, Harry, Jesse, David and John Thomas and two sisters, Reda Weimer and Ruth Wingrove.
She is survived by three children, Harry P. Dugger and wife Kathleen; Sandra Younkin and husband Gerald and Thomas L. Dugger and wife Julie; nine grandchildren, William Jordan (Beth); Ginger Burket; Kevin Younkin (Jolene); Melissa Danser (Chris); Thomas Dugger (Charlotte); Rebecca Sleasman (CJ); Denise Leasure (Robert); and Ariel and Bridget Carbino; eight great-grandchildren, Raeanne, Liam, Shawn, Samantha, Chloe, A.J. Erik and Elena; two brothers, Henry Thomas and wife Barbara; Joseph Thomas and wife Shanley and a sister Freda Dugger and husband Joebudd, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am in Pennsville Baptist Church, 3298 Richey Road, Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Robert H. Bixel officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery.
