Barbara N. Bryan-Thatcher, 88, of St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2023 at Bayfront Health. Barbara was born Oct. 10, 1934, at Mt. Pleasant Hospital, a daughter of the late James and Elma Bryan of Scottdale.
Barbara married David Thatcher on Feb. 14, 2013. She inherited five children, Brenda Taylor of Hagerstown, Md., David Thatcher of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tim Thatcher and wife Annie of Puyallup, Wash., Trina Wright of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Tammy Thatcher of Williamsport, Md; also seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, James Bryan and is survived by her husband, David Thatcher of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her sister, Joanne Hough of Scottdale and sister, Gwen and husband Joe Pace of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and niece Lisa and Greg Clark.
Barbara graduated from Scottdale High School with Class of 1952 and attended Eastern Nazarene College, where she met David Thatcher. Following her graduation, she worked at the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C., then Gallaudet University of the deaf. She then made her move to Florida soon after her parents did. She worked for Florida Southern College in Lakeland. Barbara finally moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. then after working for the Veteran’s Administration for 31 years, she retired. Barbara was also very active with the Assemblies of God, where she was director of several ministries for singles over 35 years.
In lieu of flowers, please have donations made to hospice of Bayfront Health. A Service for family and close friends is to be announced in the near future. Interment will take place in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, East Huntingdon Township.
