Barbara Ann Taylor, 80, a resident of Bridgewater, Va., formerly of Youngwood, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018. Mrs. Taylor was born in 1937 in Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Carroll and Florence Shupe.
She was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and worked as a Spanish teacher. She also taught English as a second language in the Adult Education Program in Wallingford, Conn. She was an avid book lover, and she worked and volunteered at public libraries in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Alabama. She loved to travel, and she visited many parts of the United States as well as Mexico and Europe.
In 1963, she married David W. Taylor, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Taylor and wife Mary Jean Speare, of Harrisonburg, Va., and Robert Taylor and wife Karen, of East Hampton, Conn.; a sister, Linda Peduzzi, of Beaver; a brother, David Shupe, of Greensburg; and two grandchildren, Ryan Taylor and Kate Taylor.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, until the time of her memorial service at 10 a.m. at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. At her request, the body was cremated. McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, Va., and Graft-Jacquillard Funeral Home in Scottdale are in charge of arrangements.
