Barry Kramer

April 28, 1948 — July 21, 2016

Barry D. Kramer, 68 of Scottdale, passed away suddenly, Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Excela Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.  Barry was born April 28, 1948 in Connellsville a son of the late Theodore and Agnes (Siwula) Kramer.

Barry had formerly been employed by Duraloy, Scottdale and Volkwagen of America, New Stanton.  Most recently, he was employed as a foreman for the Westmoreland County Housing Authority.  Barry was a proud combat veteran serving in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division, A Co. 1st/501st Infantry.  Barry’s service continued as an active member and past Commander of the Scottdale VFW Post 7781 and as a member/coordinator of the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard providing military funeral honors at the services of numerous veterans.  He was also a member of the Scottdale Borough Auxiliary Police Force.  He was the former Cub Master for Scottdale Scout Pack 151.

Barry is survived by his four children, Jason Kramer (Suzanne); Becky Magness (Ian); Jon Kramer (Susie); Jessica Johnston (Roger) and their mother, Bonnie (Wilkins) Kramer; eight grandchildren, Julia Kramer, Kaleb Kramer, Allison Kramer, Brooke Kramer, Mackenzie Magness, Eli Magness, Cole Kramer and Tori Kramer; his sister, Janet Hribal; his nephew, Thomas Hribal; and his companion, Susan Pyda.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1-3 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale where Prayers of Transfer will be recited at 10:30 am Monday followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 am in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Church, Scottdale with Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant.  Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  A parish wake service will be held Sunday at 5:45 pm in the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard c/o Scottdale American Legion 713 N.
