Charles “Don” Ridenour, 85 of Scottdale, (Mt. Nebo) passed away, Friday, March 9, 2018 in Excela Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born October 15, 1932 in Wyano a son of the late Thomas and Anna Gail (Smith) Ridenour.
Don retired from Westinghouse and was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean conflict. He was a faithful and active member of the Owensdale United Methodist Church where he volunteered for many activities and was a member of the choir, Sunday School teacher, superintendent and treasurer. Don was a member of the church dartball league and a member of the Marion Masonic Lodge F & AM 562, Scottdale. He enjoyed the outdoors whether it was gardening, mowing or playing golf.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Esther (Pletcher) Ridenour; his two daughters, Bambi Cook and her husband Chuck and Bobbi Kapella and her husband Stanley; seven grandchildren, Miranda Meyer (Justin); Lauren Bigley (Sam); Katie Alexander (Nathan); Sara Negri; Ryan Negri (Renee); and Erin and Jacob Negri; six great-grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, Max, Reid, Brynn and Dominic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Ridenour, Jr. and J. Gilbert Ridenour.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 6-8 and Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am with his pastor, Rev. Kimberly King officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery.
