Donald J. Hough, 81, of Dawson, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Hough was born April 29, 1927 in Lower Tyrone Township a son of the late Frank and Dorothy Dull Hough.
Mr. Hough was co-owner of the former Guest and Hough Tire Service in Scottdale. A veteran of World War II, Don, served with the US Navy and received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was a member of the Tyrone Presbyterian Church and the Brownfield Senior Citizens Center in Dawson. Don had a lifelong love of gospel music and sang in the Keynotes Quartet, the Tyrone Trio and on many occasions with his beloved wife, Mary. His hobbies included antique cars, camping, hunting, sports and telling stories.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Mary L. (Barclay) Hough; his two daughters, Debbie Hough of Palmyra, Pa and Sandy Clark of Scottdale; three grandchildren, Stormie, Sterling and Sawyer Clark; three sisters, Gertrude Miner of Everson; Helen Guest and husband Sidney of Dawson and Rebecca Cottom and husband Blaine of Scottdale; a brother, Robert Hough and wife Marlene of Dawson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Galley, brothers, Richard and Ralph Hough and an infant brother.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale (724-887-7110). Private committal services and interment will be held at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville followed by a memorial service Saturday at Noon in the Tryone Presbyterian Church, Dawson with Pastor Robert Prinkey and Rev.
