Dorothy Harrer

December 28, 1930 — December 24, 2021

Dorothy Jane Harrer, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2021. She was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a daughter of the late Andrew John Fencil and Edna Susan (Sheets) Fencil.

Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother, grammy and great-grammy. Spending time with her family brought her much joy, be it a family game night or family dinner. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Scottdale, where she was past president of the Clingerman Class and a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed many years of chairing the Christmas Shoebox Ministry and organized the funeral meals, where her scalloped potatoes became famous.

Dorothy enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping She was raised on a farm and milked cows alongside her dad and brothers. Her fondest memories were of spending the summers in Guard, Md., at the family's summer home. She was also an avid bingo player and was a member of the Jewel bowling league. She had a love of music, from singing hymns at church to listening to John Denver. Whistling a tune while she tended to her home was a common sound. It brought her great pride that she kept an immaculate house.
