Esther Newlin

Esther Pritts Newlin, 97 formerly of Scottdale, PA, passed away on May 31, 2018 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg, SC.  She was born October 23, 1920 in Iron Bridge (East Huntingdon Township) a daughter of the late John H. and Nellie (Fry) Pritts.

She was a  graduate of East Huntingdon High School Class of 1937 and a member of the First United Church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant, PA. She had also served as Past Matron and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Esther is survived by her son David E. Newlin and daughter-in-law Janice Newlin of Spartanburg, SC; daughter-in-law Rebecca Newlin of Mt. Pleasant, PA; three grandchildren David Edward Newlin of Orlando, FL, Heather Allen (Winthrop) of Spartanburg, SC and Dana Arlene Newlin of Mt. Pleasant, PA; and two great grandchildren Philip Allen and Jane Allen.

In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her son, Donald and brothers, William Pritts, J. Baldridge Pritts, Clarence Pritts and sisters, Ferne Pritts and Dorothy Coffman.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am with her nephew, the Rev.
