Harry Edward Holsopple

Harry Edward Holsopple, 73 of Scottdale, passed away January 8, 2025. He was born November 4, 1951 in Moon Township a son of the late Ira and Alice (McClester) Holsopple. 

Harry graduated from Moon High School in 1969 and received a bachelor’s degree in music from Edinboro University. For 14 years, he was band director and taught music in the Hillsboro School District, West Virginia. After moving to Neville Island, he served as band director and taught music at Cornell School, Coraopolis. Following his retirement from teaching, he worked in the airline industry for several years. Harry was currently employed as a sales associate at Sam’s Club, Greensburg and was looking forward to full retirement with his wife in 2026.

Outside of work, he was an avid amateur radio operator with call sign KD3SB. He continued sharing music as a trombone player as a member of the Ringgold Band, marching in parades and playing at various nursing homes for the residents. Harry enjoyed spending time with family and friends and made many memories traveling and camping with Donna, their children and grandchildren in their travel trailer.  During his life, faith was an important part of Harry's life.  He was baptized in the First Baptist Church, Coraopolis where he sang in the choir.  Harry also attended St. Stephen's Church in Sewickley and sang in the choir there.   He had also attended the Presbyterian Church, Neville Island. Locally, he attended Pennsville Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant and Word of Life in Greensburg where he enjoyed the men's fellowship and the dinner and movie night program.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Donna (Geyer) Holsopple, a son, Mark Greenawalt, granddaughter, Kara Greenawalt-Tomko (fiancé, Jimmy Hay) and their children, Peyton Hay and Landon and Gavin Tomko, Mallory, Makayla and Chase Hay; granddaughter, Karissa Greenawalt (fiancé, Tommy Collier) and their children, Addyson, Thomas and Grace Collier; grandson, Adam Greenawalt, II and family and granddaughter, Amber Palmer and her family. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura Geyer, Carl Geyer (Kathy), Melvin Geyer (Ann), Bruce Geyer (Dori) and Joanne Kerr (Dave).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Adam Greenawalt, his mother-in-law, Mary Geyer; a brother-in-law, Donald Geyer, and his daughter-in-law, Lori Bungard-Greenawalt.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Jan 18 from 2 pm to 3 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, where Harry’s memorial service will be held at 3 PM with Rev. Robert H. Bixel officiating and Rev. Thomas Shirer as co-officiant. Private inurnment will take place in the Scottdale Cemetery.
