J. Gilbert Ridenour, 92 of Ruffsdale, passed away, Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Harmon House Care Center, Mt. Pleasant. He was born January 6, 1923 in Mendon a son of the late Arthur and Anna Gail (Smith) Ridenour.
Gilbert retired from the Exxon Corporation where he had been employed as a master mechanic. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion and the Marion Masonic Lodge #562. Gilbert especially enjoyed gathering for coffee with his friends at the New Stanton McDonald's.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, L. June Ridenour (March 1, 2011) and a brother, Thomas A. Ridenour, Jr.
He is survived by three sons, Dr. Dennis G. Ridenour and his wife Linda of Duncansville; Bruce J. Ridenour and his wife Pamela of Norvelt and Bradley D. Ridenour and his wife Denise of Troy, MI: three grandchildren Todd (Rachel) Ridenour; Dr. Ryan (Kathy) Ridenour and Jordan Ridenour; four great-granddaughters, Abigail, Leah, Madison and Kaitlyn Ridenour; his brother, Charles (Donald) Ridenour and his wife Esther of Scottdale (Mt. Nebo) and his brother in law, R. Daniel Smith of Ruffsdale.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am with his pastor, Rev. Karen Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 822 W. Main St. Mt.
