James W. Harris, 84 of Belle Vernon, formerly of Scottdale, passed away, Friday, December 9, 2016 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born July 10, 1932 in Youngwood a son of the late James Walter and Harriet (Olson) Harris.
Jim had been employed in the manufacturing industry as a methods engineer. Previously, he was employed by Fisher Body and the Elliott Company. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1950.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia (Clark) Harris whom he married on September 7, 1956; his children, J. Douglas Harris and his wife Cheryl (Scalise); Brenda Harris and her husband Bruce Brickner; four grandchildren, J. Colin Harris, Kelsey Harris, Todd Norton and Rebecca Norton; three great-grandchildren and his brother, Kenneth “Harv” Harris, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Allen Harris and a great-grandson.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale where his funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 am with the Rev. D. Keith Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
