James R. Werkman, 88 of Scottdale passed away, Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at his home. He was born February 5, 1935 in East Huntingdon Township (Thornwood) a son of the late Paul and Margaret (Ross) Werkman.
He was a graduate of Scottdale High School class of 1953 and received his BS degree from Penn State University and his MA degree from West Virginia University. Jim taught business subjects in Scottdale/Southmoreland School district. He was also a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Scottdale.
His memberships include, Marion Lodge F & AM, Scottish Rite Valleys of Uniontown and Pittsburgh, Syria Shriners, Sons of the American Revolution, BPO Elks Lodge, Scottdale, Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, and the East Huntingdon Sportsmen’s Association. Jim was a former member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club and the Scottdale Lions Club. He served in the Army with the USAG at Ft. McNair and with the 429th Eng Bn (Const) at Ft. Bragg, NC.
In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Alice M. “Peggy” (Martz) Werkman.
He is survived by his son James and his companion Sue Pletcher and several cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Chapel committal service on Monday, October 30 at 2pm at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville where services will take place with the Rev.
