John R. Grecco, 88 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away, Tuesday, October 06, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 28, 1927 in Butler a son of the late Cosimo and Mary (Serosky) Grecco.
Mr. Grecco retired from the Mt. Pleasant Area School District where he served as Superintendent of Schools. Prior to that, he had been employed with the Burgettstown School District. John was a member of the partner parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale and a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army. He received a degree in elementary education from the University of Pittsburgh and also received his master's degree in education. He was a member of PSEA and the Westmoreland County Superintendent's Association. He had also served on the Financial Board of Frick Hospital. He had also been active in the Regional Family YMCA Silver Sneakers Program.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William, and an infant brother, Joseph.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn (Trimbur) Grecco; eight caring children, John Grecco, Jr; Joseph (Dana) Grecco; Julene Grecco; Jeffrey Grecco; James (Mary) Grecco; Jeremy (Marcy) Grecco; Jennifer Grecco and Jason (Ruth Ann) Grecco; eight grandchildren; and three brothers, Samuel (Geraldine) Grecco; Edward (Joanne) Grecco and Carl Grecco and many nieces and nephews.

GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where Prayers of Transfer will be recited at 10:30 am Friday followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am in the partner parish of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale with the Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. The ministry of consolation will conduct a vigil service on Thursday at 7:45 pm in the funeral home.
