Joseph C. Flora, 81, of Scottdale, passed away, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home. He was born December 6, 1939 a son of the late Edward and Virginia (Byrne) Flora.
Joe was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist, Scottdale. Joe’s commitment to the church and his volunteer efforts were numerous. He was a member of the Men’s Prayer Group, served as sacristan and was active in the Respect for Life Prayer Chain that gave witness every year for the unborn. He was a masterful artist in metal sculpting and many of his works had been exhibited throughout the state. He was also a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid reader.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, MaryByrne (Flora) Turk, his loving nephew, Eddie Connare and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he considered family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Jack and Jerome Flora and his sister, Anne Connare.
Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 am to 10:45 am in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 500 S. Broadway St. Scottdale. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:45 am followed by Joe’s Funeral Mass at 11 am with Rev. Elmer Alforque as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
