Rev. John Hicks

Rev. John A. Hicks, 87, of Scottdale, entered into the presence of his Lord Wednesday, July 2, 2014. He was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Proctor, N.C., a son of the late John I. Hicks and Alice (Hill) Hicks.
John was under the care of Excela Hospice and his loving family. He was undergirded with many prayers of his church, family and friends. John served in Army Air Force in World War II as an MP in Manila, the Philippines.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Patricia, of 62 years; sons, Stephen and his wife, Tracy, of Jeannette, Paul, of Scottdale, and Daniel and his wife, Russi, of Germany; and his daughters, Linda Lathrop and her husband, Doug, of Portland, Ore., Lois Eberly and her husband, Bruce, of Scottdale, and Julie Giacopetti and her husband, Emiliano, of Scottdale. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought special joy and delight to his life; grandchildren, John Campbell, and wife Bethany, Sara Weir and husband, Jeremi, Aaron Eberly, John, Jesse, Jake and Katie Hicks, Calley and Kaitlyn Lathrop, Cesare, Roberto and his wife, Michela, and Giuliano Giacopetti and Jeannie and Josh Hicks. Blessed with his love as well are Ty, Kate and Emma Campbell, his great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his brothers, Joel, Carlyle and Ray Hicks; and a sister, Annette Courtright. He is survived also by two sisters, Carolyn Haller, of Odessa, N.Y., and Cynthia Lucie, of Horseheads, N.Y.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. at the GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL HOME, Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Calvary Baptist Church, New Stanton, with the Rev. Richard Sementilli officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions may be sent to the Calvary Baptist Church, Missionary Fund, New Stanton, PA 15672.
