Robert H. Bloom, 88 of Elkton, Florida, formerly of Everson, passed away, Friday, September 09, 2016 in the Bailey Center for Caring, St. Augustine, Florida. Bob was born July 19, 1928 in Adelaide, Pa. a son of the late Frank Henry and Ethel Lulu (Hall) Bloom.
Bob retired from the Anchor Hocking Glass Plant where he was a machine attendant and a group leader. He was a member of the Everson Evangelical Church where he also served as a youth leader. He was the former director for the Connellsville Unit of the Salvation Army and was well-known as a PIAA basketball official and umpire for softball and baseball. Bob was also part of the family singing group, The Bloom Brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Genevieve “Genny” (Richter) Bloom; a son, Robert Lee Bloom; a daughter, Kathleen Sue Hansen (Samuel); grandchildren, T.J. Bloom (Wendy) and Matthew Bloom; three great grandchildren, Kayla, Abigail and Ethan Bloom; a brother Dale Bloom (Martha) and a sister, Carolyn Roebuck, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Bloom and Alma Jean Rogers and six brothers, Ray, Kenneth, Merle, Melvin, Raymond and Frank Bloom.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, where services will be held Thursday at 11 am with Rev. Chester Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Connellsville Salvation Army Service Center 300 W. Crawford Ave. Connellsville, PA 15425.
