Robert G. Wilson, 89 of Scottdale, passed away, Friday, July 10, 2015 at his home. He was born April 8, 1926 in East Huntingdon Township a son of the late Earle and Emma (Huffman) Wilson.
Bob retired from US Steel Irvin Works after 40 years service. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II aboard the USS Louisville. He was a skilled carpenter and was well known for his talent at wood-working. Additionally, he enjoyed remote control boats having built several as well. Bob was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and car racing. He was a corvette enthusiast and formerly owned a 1954 corvette and had previously belonged to the Blue Ridge Mountain Sports Car Club. Bob was also affiliated with Trinity United Methodist Church, Scottdale.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Arthur Wilson.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Martha (Hafer) Wilson; several nieces and nephews, including his nieces who helped care for him, Cheryl Eichner and fiancAC. Denny Korba and Lisa Eichner.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am in Trinity United Methodist Church, 501 Mulberry Street, Scottdale with Rev. Harry R. Speakman officiating. Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery with military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
