Ronald Frederick, Jr.

March 23, 1981 — February 3, 2022

Ronald Edward Frederick Jr., 40, of Mt. Pleasant, PA, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022. Ronald (Ron) was born March 23, 1981 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Ronald E. Frederick Sr. and Anita M. (Conty) Frederick.

Ron grew up an avid sports lover and athlete. From the time he could swing a bat or throw a ball, Ron was involved in any sport he could take part in, but his passion and talent in regard to football soon made him stand out.  Ron went on to play for the Southmoreland Scotties, eventually being named an All-Conference Player.   Ron graduated from Southmoreland High School in 1999 and went on to play college football at the University of Tulsa and California University, graduating from Cal U in 2004.  While pursuing his career in sales, Ron never lost his desire to be a part of the sport that gave so much to him.  Ron began his coaching career at Southmoreland in 2005, and went on to coach at Charleroi and Ringgold, returning to his alma mater in 2017 to once again be a part of the football program that he grew up in.

Since returning to coach at Southmoreland, Ron had dreamed of being the head coach for a program and town that he loved so much.  This past week, that dream came true.  Ron was chosen as the next Head Football Coach of the Southmoreland Scotties, and his friends and family could not have been prouder.

Ron married Elizabeth Shipley of Mt. Pleasant in June of 2009.   Above all else, the thing Ron treasured most was his family. He adored his wife Liz and the life they built together.  From the moment he became a father, Ron was involved in every minute of his children’s lives.  Ron was their tangled hair brusher, funny joke teller, coach, and guiding light of their family. Many of Ron’s most cherished memories involved family vacations to the Outer Banks, countless trips to Disney, and coaching or supporting his children at every one of their events.

Ron’s smile was infectious, his laugh contagious, and his love for his family never ending.  Ron had a passion for life that all who met him could see and yearned to be a part of.  It’s what made him such an incredible husband, devoted father, and dedicated coach.

Ron will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Shipley Frederick; their three children, Sophia Rae Frederick, Colin Ronald Frederick, and Dylan Wayne Frederick; his parents, Ronald Edward Frederick Sr., and Anita Marie (Conty) Frederick, his brother, Robert Alan Frederick (Sarah Frederick); and his sister, Renee Marie (Frederick) Negri (Ryan Negri), his mother in law, Cheryl B. Shipley and brothers & sisters in law, Jacob Shipley (Emily Shipley), Dreyer Shipley (Sarah Shipley), his maternal grandmother, Irene Conty and his 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in law, Wayne Shipley and his maternal grandfather, Philip Conty and his paternal grandparents, Earl and Mary Ellen Frederick.

Ron cherished nothing more than being with his family and being a part of the community he loved.  To honor his life and legacy, please take time to celebrate and treasure your family and loved ones today.  Cheer for Duke, watch a Disney movie, or even watch a football game.
