Theresa Matsey

May 29, 1922 — June 22, 2013

Theresa Rose (Mancuso) Matsey, 91 of Scottdale, passed away Saturday, June 22,
2013, in St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was born May 29, 1922, in
Connellsville, a daughter of the late Luigi and Mary (Mastroianni) Mancuso. She
was formerly employed by Anchor Hocking in the cap plant division. Theresa was
a member of the St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Scottdale, where she was
also the oldest member of its Altar Society. She enjoyed baking and cooking and
would give her baked goods, not only to her family and friends, but also to the
staff at her doctors' and hospital visits. No matter who you were, a family
member, friend or even a stranger, when you were in her home she would not let
you leave until you ate something. She would also just strike up a conversation
with anyone, anywhere. That was just Theresa's heart of gold. Married for 53
years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen (Steve); sisters, Ella
Kinnick and Caroline DeAngelis; brothers Frank and her twin brother Anthony
Mancuso and a brother-in-law Victor Matsey. She leaves behind many cherished
memories to her devoted children, a daughter, Stephanie Shannon and her
husband Patrick of Murrysville; a son, Stephen (Steve) Matsey and his companion
Cindy Hribal of Scottdale with whom she resided until April of 2012;
grandchildren Ashlea D. Kelly and her husband Gregory of Connellsville and Katie
Shannon of Murrysville; great-grandson Dylan Kelley; a wonderful and caring
sister-in-law Theresa P. (Gazda) Matsey of Mt. Pleasant; her dogs Buddy &
Snickers and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday
from 2-9 p.m. in the Graft-Jacquillard Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 303
Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, where the Altar Society will be meeting for Rosary at 4:30
p.m. A Panachida service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home
followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10am in the St. John Byzantine Catholic Church with father
Jerome G. Botsko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. John Byzantine
Catholic Cemetery, East Huntingdon Twp. Theresa's family would like to thank all
of the staff at St. Anne's for the compassionate care and support they not only
gave to her, but also to her family, especially the staff of Benjamin Garden who
treated her as if she was their own mother. If desired, Memorial contributions
can be sent, in Theresa's memory, to St. Anne Home, 685 Angela Drive,
Greensburg, PA 15601.
