Thomas J. Dzambo, 84 of Scottdale, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at his residence. He was born September 15, 1938, in Everson a son of the late Peter James Dzambo, Sr and Mary (Wesolowski) Dzambo.
Tom retired from the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Department where he was employed as a deputy sheriff and was a former Union Steward. He had been a member of the Westmoreland County Deputy Sheriff’s Association at one time serving as President. He was previously employed by Modulus Screw and Bolt serving as local union President.
Tom was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School Class of 1956 where he was class Vice President and voted Best Dancer. He was a member of the Partner Parish of St. Joseph Church, Everson and previously served as president of Parish Council, was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as a lector. Tom was a Veteran of the US Army and was a member and past President of Everson VFW Post 595 and their Golf League. He was instrumental in organizing the Junior Golf League. He served as Democratic Committee Man for Westmoreland County in White’s Voting District in East Huntingdon Township until 1999. Tom was a School Board Director for the Southmoreland School District from 1991 to 1999.
He is survived by his loving wife, Louise (Mikolajczyk) Dzambo, his three children, Natalie Mitrisin and her husband Mike, Scott Dzambo and Robin Dzambo, three grandchildren, Justin Mitrisin (Alicia), Casey Mitrisin (Tiffany) and Brandon Dzambo; four great-grandchildren, Rhett and Brice Mitrisin, Willow Mitrisin, Isabella Dzambo and one to be expected; his brothers and sisters, Barbara Dzambo, Mary Ann Vinzani, Allen Dzambo (Betty), Debbie Stolarik, Peter Dzambo, James Dzambo, John Dzambo (Bonnie), George Dzambo (Cathe) and Cindy Lewis (Scott), his sister in law, Ruth Ann Dzambo and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Dzambo.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm at GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale where Prayers of Transfer will be recited Thursday at 10:30 am followed by his funeral Mass at 11 am in St. John the Baptist Church, Scottdale with Rev. Elmer Alforque as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph RC Cemetery, Upper Tyrone Township with military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
